April 12, 2012, is the 151st anniversary of this tragic event which plunged the People of the States into a cauldron of “mass murder and mass destruction.” The wounds suffered by “both sides” have not healed to this date. How unfortunate.

In my book, WHY LINCOLN CHOSE WAR, I provide historical facts which show what actually happened prior to this date, much of the event itself and the horrors unleashed by the National government upon the citizens of the Northern states. These are provable  facts and are quoted in large majority from Union and Northern sources.

Tom DiLorenzo in his epic work, THE REAL LINCOLN*, uses the word “unnecessary” in his title. No other word could be more appropriate in describing Lincoln’s War or any other war for that matter. ALL wars are unnecessary, but this one was especially so. There were multiple opportunities for resolution prior to the fateful outbreak of hostilities.

Were Major Anderson and his men truly starving? How had they existed at Fort Moultrie and then Fort Sumter for the six months prior to April 12? Why was this “shortage of food” not written about in the Northern press immediately upon its being learned about by the Buchanan administration in March, 1861?

How many Northern citizens were thrown into jail and sometimes clapped in irons for simply disagreeing with the conduct of Lincoln’s War? Why were the Northern people subject to martial law and military rule for the duration? Why were numerous “peaceful solutions” completely ignored by a small “power group” of people (mainly Lincoln and the Republican Party.)

My book seeks to establish no “cause” for this tragedy. It does not cast Lincoln as a “villain” although he did use dictatorial powers which have lasted within the Presidency to this day. I do not seek to justify slavery nor to blame anyone for its existence. Nor is there an effort justify the “lost cause.” Rather, I present actual, valid, true historical facts which have NEVER been presented to the People of the 50 States.

Read this book. Learn for yourself. DECIDE FOR YOURSELF why this horror was unleashed upon the American People when it would have been so very easy to avoid with reasoned discussion, compromise and time. Many, many citizens on “both sides” were “begging” for a peaceful resolution and no war.

Of course he did. Each president who has ever dragged this country into a war has always had the ability to choose between “mass murder and mass destruction” and “peace.”  In each case regarding wars started by our national government, the president made the choice for war.

How much do you use a computer? What can you do with it? If you’re young, you can do a lot. Even if you’re my age, there’s a lot you can learn to do with this wonderful technology. Using a computer you can pay your bills, make motel or cruise reservations, get event tickets, communicate with other people, and PAY TAXES! If we can do all this with safety and security, why the heck aren’t we using the personal computer and Internet to vote? There can be only one reason. The PRCs don’t want us to.

Today’s voting systems and methods, with their long lines, varying types of ballots (absentee, military, etc.), long wait times for counting mail-in ballots, etc., can be eliminated just by using your personal computer to produce your own ballot at home. Here’s how.

Right now I can access my voting certificate from the South Carolina  elections database. On the Web site I enter my first and last name, county, and date of birth. Presto! On the screen before me is a copy of my registered voter certificate. It lists my name, address, voting precinct, precinct location, directions to the poll station from my house, and other very good information. It also lists my personal voting districts for Congress, South Carolina House, South Carolina Senate, school district, county council, city council, and other. How difficult would it be to produce a ballot specifically for me from this data? Not hard at all, believe me.

The PRCs say that using the Internet to vote would lead to fraud and cheating (which we already have, right?) I’m not saying we should use the Internet to vote, just to get our ballots. There’s a huge difference. What and whom you vote for are determined by your address only. There’s no way your address can cause fraud or cheating. One ballot for S. Gantt per his address, produced by the county for him alone; no one else can get a ballot using his name, address, or registered voter certificate number. The county locks me out after the ballot is issued. When I vote by submitting my ballot, the county checks me off. One ballot issued. One ballot submitted by S. Gantt at 123 Anywhere Street, South Carolina. (And you can store your ballot on your personal database just as you store your tax records.)

Simple, right? Verifiable, right? I think so. It’s just like the Washington State system, except that ballots are not sent by mail. The accountability system is the same as theirs. And my system allows people to vote from anywhere in the world, so long as they can get to a computer and a printer. Plus, this system only needs ONE type of ballot. No more absentee ballots, military ballots, college ballots, early ballots, old folks’ ballots, etc. It’s the same for everyone.

On page 46 you can see an example of the ballot I propose. It represents a one-page ballot, two sided, 8.5 x 11.0 inches, with plenty of room for numerous offices, constitutional questions, referendums, etc. It would work just like the Tango Tax packages and others that many citizens use for doing their taxes each year on their home computer. You put a lot of numbers and info into your tax package, and when you are finished, you print out a clean, neat, accurate Form 1040. Save your data on your hard drive, and you’re ready for next year.

The same goes for your ballot. You can call it up on your computer screen, make your choices, verify, print, certify, and mail. Or you can deliver in other ways already noted. Your ballot shows only those offices you should vote for and only the questions you should answer. It would eliminate the large, bulky and multi-paged ballots you see with some systems already in use.

There is also a place for you to identify your ballot only if you choose to do so . You can enter a secret code known only to you so that you can retrieve your ballot from the thousands with it–or not! You don’t have to.
